Introducing the new Zora magazine

The last year of Zora&Alice has been a real pleasure. We’ve enjoyed getting to know our readers and starting an intelligent conversation for, by, and about black women.

We’ve been on hiatus for a few months figuring out what’s next and we are so excited to announce our new direction.

Zora&Alice is now Zora magazine, an online magazine for collegiate black women. In August 2011, we’re relaunch on a new site and will focus on serving black women in college. We are looking for leaders at schools across the country to lead the charge. Read here to find out how to join.

One of the things we learned in the last year was that black women on college campuses often lack community with other black women. College is also a time when many of us question, discover, and build our full selves. To wit, we believe Zora magazine can provide a virtual “room of her own” for black women in college.

We are looking for groups of women on college campuses who want to launch their school’s branch of Zora. Read here for more info or contact editor [at] zoramagonline.com

What an awesome idea! I will be a senior in the fall so I don’t starting a chapter would be possible on my part. But I do agree, I often feel so isolated in college, I only have one friend I chat with during and after class. I’ll have to keep checking back to see how it goes :)

Zora on its own is a stronger name.

Great idea, however I am sad to see the name and direction change.  Zora & Alice was/is awesome!  However, thank you for finding another tool to serve young sisters.
